synthesis of baclofen; an alternative approach
Authors
abstract
g -aminobutiric acid (gaba), the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system has two major receptor subtypes (gabaa and gabab). gabab receptors are activated by the antispastic and muscle relaxant agent, baclofen, which is a lipophilic derivative of gaba. since 1962 several strategies have been reported for the synthesis of baclofen.in this study an approach has been made to synthesize baclofen in an alternative way. the key steps involved the condensation of p-chloro benzaldehyde with nitromethane and the reaction of ?-nitro styrene thus prepared with malonate diethyl ester. further reduction and decarboxylation of the product gave access to baclofen with a good yield.

Spatial planning approaches along with complication of societies are being changed. These changes and transformations have reflected themselves in increasing diversification of economic patterns, people, group, organization, and institution’s mobility. While in less developed network societies some of the concepts including “distance” and “movement “are relatively losing their importance , some...

Intraventricular baclofen as an alternative to intrathecal baclofen for intractable spasticity or dystonia: outcomes and technical considerations.
OBJECT The aim of this study was to identify the benefits of intraventricular baclofen (IVB) therapy for the treatment of intractable spasticity or dystonia in a subset of patients who had experienced multiple revisions while receiving intrathecal baclofen (ITB) therapy. METHODS The authors reviewed the charts of 22 consecutive patients with intractable spasticity or dystonia who initially un...
